Mandate Goals Costs Schedule Explanations DSCproject

There are two SCAF projects. The first is the construction of one or two full size prototypes to validate the SCAF concept. The second is the construction of a SCAF network in first one city, then more. Download this placemark to see proposed SCAF sites in cities around the world. An overview of a problem, objectives and stakeholder analysis can be seen here.

Prototype project summary

  1. Preconstruction:
  • Perform computer virtual simulations to further prove concept.
  • Perform computer virtual simulations to further tweak design.
  • Design electrical systems.
  • Find optimum design for turbine rotor.
  • Design optimum filter configuration.
  • Define best filter disposal/cleaning method.
  • (Design Stirling cooling system).
  • Collect and collate historic medical and pollution data of host city.
  • Set method to define structure efficiency.

Build a full sized complete SCAF.

  1. Monitor air pollutant levels, temperature and solar constant in SCAF area and city in general.
  2. Define SCAF zone of effect
  3. Monitor SCAF energy production.
  4. Test efficiency of each energy source
  5. Conduct medical study to judge effect on residents' health.
  6. Identify and quantify pollutants caught in filters.
  7. Test adaptations. (underground intakes, Stirling engine, hydrogen production and burning and advertising panels for ex.)
  8. Collate results of medical study, filter analysis, electrical and pollutant monitoring to validate concept and provide concrete efficiency data.
  9. Publish results

If a large city builds a SCAF network, we would recommend that it also purchase the equipment and rights to produce the DSCs. This would reduce the cost of the panels to the project, make the DSC subproject possible and make the panels more accessible to the general public in the region and for smaller communities building SCAF networks.

The expected amounts of pollution removed from the air and the energy generated by a SCAF or SCAF network can be seen in this Excel spreadsheet. The explanations for the values can be found here.
